Getting there from Tel Aviv

There are two domestic airlines to Eilat; Arkia and

Israir. They fly from Sde-Dov and Ben Gurion (both airports in Tel Aviv) to Eilat.


Eilat’s airport is in the city centre and a short taxi ride from most major hotels.

Eilat has two airports. One is in the city centre and the other, Ovda is 54 kilometres west of Eilat.
Getting around

Many facilities and attractions are within walking distance of the beach. Metered taxis are plentiful in Eilat and there’s a regular bus service operated by Egged. Several major international car hire companies are represented in Eilat and have outlets at the airport.

Eilat’s 10km coastline has two main beaches. North Beach is the heart of the action with watersports available, boat trips leaving from the harbour, plenty of shops, nightlife and eateries nearby and the city attractions within walking distance. Some hotels face the Lagoon which is connected to the North Beach by a promenade.

South Beach is the best spot for divers and snorkelers and includes the Coral Reef Nature Reserve It’s more laid back than North Beach and has plenty of plenty of dive clubs as well as cafes and watersports facilities. It’s also home to the Dolphin Reef and Underwater Observatory attractions. It is 5km from the city which can be reached by bus or taxi.

Shopping hours

Shops are usually open Sunday to Thursday from 9am to 21.00 or later, those that observe the Jewish Sabbath will close on Friday afternoons and Saturdays. Some shops close for a break between 13.00 and 16.00. Shops may also be closed on major Jewish holidays.
